The DOE Joint Genome Institute (JGI) 14th Annual Genomics of Energy & Environment Meeting takes place April 2-5, 2019 at the Hilton Union Square San Francisco in San Francisco, Calif.

The Annual Meeting provides current and prospective users of JGI resources an opportunity to learn about the full spectrum of the JGI’s capabilities as well as to hear from a diverse selection of researchers who are applying the latest omics strategies to advance innovative science. Early-bird registration rates end December 31, 2018. To register for the JGI Annual Meeting, and to learn more about the workshops and confirmed speakers, go to https://usermeeting.jgi.doe.gov.

The JGI Annual Meeting is a productive forum for developing large-scale interdisciplinary initiatives, establishing collaborative partnerships and exploring new career opportunities. The keynote speakers for this Meeting are:

  • Arturo Casadevall, Johns Hopkins University
  • Mary Firestone, University of California, Berkeley
  • Michael Purugganan, New York University

After registering for the JGI Annual Meeting, expect a confirmation email with poster abstract submission information and guidance. The abstract submission deadline is March 8, 2019 @ 11:59PM PST. Poster abstracts submitted by February 19, 2019 will be considered for a short talk slot at the JGI Annual Meeting.

The JGI Annual Meeting will be preceded by a series of workshops and the “NeLLi 2019 Symposium: From New Lineages of Life to New Functions.” NeLLi 2019 will focus on experimental innovations, computational advances, and other technological developments that will enable researchers to move from identification of microbial novelty to assigning metabolic and functional capabilities. The NeLLi 2019 keynote speakers are:

  • Thijs Ettema, Uppsala University
  • John McCutcheon, University of Montana
  • Christa Schleper, University of Vienna

###

Separate registration is required for NeLLi 2019. To register, and to check out the program and confirmed speakers, go to https://usermeeting.jgi.doe.gov/nelli. Poster abstract submission instructions will be provided in the registration confirmation email.
