Launching today, a new multidisciplinary Open Access journal is set to revolutionise how authors – looking to tackle some of the biggest issues facing the world – can publish their research with Taylor & Francis.

All Life is to be the home for publishing multidisciplinary reproducible life science research. Led by a team of subject experts, the new journal will utilise the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals as the framework to bring together all experts to foster better collaboration and information sharing across the life sciences.

As a fully Open Access journal, it is to serve the ever-growing expansion of multi- and inter-disciplinary research in the life sciences.

Commenting on the launch, the new Editor-In-Chief, Professor Amar Abderrahmani, explains how the development of All Life is vital to adapt to an ever-changing area of science.

“In the last few years, the number of multi- and inter-disciplinary research programmes in the life sciences has intensified as a consequence of growing societal, economic and environmental needs,” he said.

“Today, for example, a manuscript investigating the DNA structure and expression changes in response to environmental pollutants, requires a multidisciplinary approach, bringing together experts in bioinformatics, biophysics, environmental science and animal physiology. Such research needs an appropriate journal to communicate this research with the right editors and reviewers.”

The 12 sections of All Life will support the UN Sustainable Development Goals ‘Zero Hunger’, ‘Good Health and Well-being’, ‘Life Below Water’ and ‘Life on Land’. These goals were launched in 2015 and focused on time-bound (2030) targets for prosperity, people, planet, peace, and partnership.

Liz Marchant, Editorial Director of Life, Earth and Environmental Sciences at Taylor & Francis states that All Life aims to become “a forum leader for multi-disciplinary research”.

“We are truly delighted with today’s exciting launch of All Life, which will no doubt progress research and push the boundaries on studies which have an impact across all levels of our day-today lives. It is a fantastic addition to our expanding portfolio of high-quality Open Access journals which are free to read across the world, with trusted research that has followed a rigorous peer-review process.

“All Life, in particular, provides tremendous possibilities for researchers across discipline areas to rapidly access and share knowledge on issues that have a huge societal impact, whilst it has been setup in a manner to submit research easier than ever before,” she added.

Setting his ambitions for the year ahead, Professor Abderrahmani added he was honoured to become the Editor-in-Chief of All Life.

“In 2020, I look forward to integrating our different sections, ensuring a high-quality review process is maintained and instilling new editorial policies, such as our policy to mandate all data on which research conclusions are built on be made publicly available.”
