Recently, Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Institute of Process Engineering (IPE), Chinese Academy of Sciences, partnered to publish a new gold open access journal entitled Industrial Chemistry & Materials (ICM). ICM was created to advance technology innovations that address the pressing issue of sustainability confronting mankind, which publishes significant research in the cross areas of industrial chemistry and materials. Professor Suojiang Zhang, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Director of the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, serves as the Editor-in-Chief of ICM. The journal is gold open access, meaning the publications can be shared widely and accessed freely by scholars all over the world. As the first open access (OA) journal published by RSC in collaboration with a Chinese research institution, ICM brings together the advantages of IPE’s strong scientific research background and RSC’s professional publishing platform. The groundbreaking cooperation provides a reliable platform for the researchers engaged in industrial chemistry and materials to share knowledge, inspire research, solve challenges, and accelerate the application of science and technology.

The groundbreaking cooperation provides a reliable platform for the researchers engaged in industrial chemistry and materials to share knowledge, inspire research, solve challenges, and accelerate the application of science and technology.

Industrial Chemistry & Materials (ICM) publishes significant innovative research and major technological breakthroughs in all aspects of industrial chemistry and materials, with a particular focus on the important innovation of the low-carbon chemical industry, energy, and functional materials. As an interdisciplinary journal, ICM aims to provide an international academic communication platform for researchers, engineers, policymakers, and more, to stimulate inspiration, solve problems, and accelerate the applications of science and technology. The topics of ICM include but are not limited to fine chemicals, energy, materials, catalysis, biomass, CCUS, polymers, etc. The article types include research papers, communications, reviews, perspectives, and commentaries.

Professor Suojiang Zhang said: “Chemical industry and materials science is entering a new green, high-value, intelligent era. ICM features application-driven chemistry and functional materials innovation. We hope this journal will be the premier home for papers related to industrial chemistry and materials, with a vision of stimulating inspiration, solving problems, and accelerating the application of science and technology.”

Dr. Emma Wilson, Royal Society of Chemistry Director of Publishing, said: “This journal launch captures a significant moment, both cementing the building of our relationship with an institution of the importance of IPE, as well as our ongoing commitment to the wider chemical sciences community in China. International collaboration is more important than ever, so we are proud to play our role in providing a new home for research that will directly address contemporary real-world challenges in chemical engineering.”

Three review articles and five research articles have been released, which are open access to academics around the world. The articles can be found at the following link:
