The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), the only global organization dedicated solely to advancing the education and understanding of lung cancer and other thoracic malignancies, is sponsoring its first major educational conference in Africa.

What: The IASLC Africa Conference on Lung Cancer 2018 will be held in Tangier, Morocco, on April 29 – May 1, 2018. This three-day meeting will provide lectures on accurate diagnosis, including molecular diagnosis; early detection and screening; state-of-the-art treatment of thoracic malignancies; tobacco control and smoking cessation programs, and how to implement them in daily practice; and recent diagnostic and therapeutic advances.

Who: Physicians, nurses, clinicians, researchers, scientists, patients, advocates and members of the general public interested in any aspect of thoracic oncology are welcome to attend this conference. Media are welcome and registration for credentialed journalists is free. The leading international lung cancer experts will be on-hand to answer questions on the latest developments in the field, and on the challenges and opportunities facing the region.

Why: As a global society, the IASLC is committed to global collaboration in the sharing of the latest science, improving clinical practices and ultimately bolstering outcomes for lung cancer patients throughout the world. With lung cancer rates expected to rise in Africa in the coming decades, the IASLC seeks to provide African and Middle Eastern regions with additional guidance on the prevention and management of lung cancers and other thoracic malignancies. In addition, the IASLC hopes to foster greater connectivity between the continent's researchers and physicians and the rest of the world, paving the way for potential global research endeavors in the future.

Where and When: Royal Tulip Hotel | Route de Malabata | Tangier, Morocco | April 29-May 1, 2018

The event is being organized by an international cohort of world leaders in the field of thoracic cancer, including experts from Africa, Europe, Asia and the U.S.
