Bethesda, MD (Aug. 20, 2018) — The Crohn's & Colitis Congress® https://www.crohnscolitiscongress.org/CCC19/Public/Enter.aspx, the premier meeting for clinical and research professionals in the IBD space, has opened registration for the 2019 meeting. A partnership of the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation and the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the meeting will include four main sessions, as well as basic science sessions and pre-Congress workshops. The 2019 Crohn's & Colitis Congress will take place February 7-9, 2019, at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.

"With nearly 1,300 attendees, we were thrilled with the attendance for the inaugural Congress this past January. Our follow-up polling of attendees and call for topics helped us build a program for 2019 that focuses on topics of most interest and importance to IBD professionals across all disciplines," said Brent Polk, MD, AGAF, and chair of the Congress organizing committee. "We are committed to convening the greatest minds in IBD. More than half of our faculty is new for this second year, adding new perspectives to address pressing topics."

The main sessions center around four key themes:

  • Making sense of care guidelines
  • Trends in IBD care and how to incorporate emerging models
  • Environmental triggers and stemming the rising tide of IBD
  • Management of complicated IBD

In addition, basic science sessions will cover integration of mucosal function by the intestinal epithelium, and microbial influences on mucosal immune responses and IBD mechanisms.

Half-day pre-Congress workshops https://www.crohnscolitiscongress.org/CCC19/Public/Content.aspx?ID=160&sortMenu=102003 are available to attendees on February 7:

  • Understanding and Reversing Fibrosis in IBD
  • Pediatric IBD: The State of the Art
  • Optimal IBD patient outcomes: What Advanced Practice Providers Need to Know
  • Nutritional Therapy for IBD: From Theory to Your Practice
  • The Lloyd Mayer, MD, Young Investigators Research Workshop: The Review Process – How Your Grants are Scored and Guidelines for Performing Effective Manuscript Reviews
  • Practical Pearls for the IBD Endoscopist

Clinicians will discover different perspectives and leave with practical information they can immediately implement in taking care of their next IBD patient. Additionally, researchers will have the opportunity to network with colleagues, faculty, and renowned thought leaders in IBD; gain access to cutting-edge research; and see how research is implemented in the clinical setting.

"Congress is truly a meeting for all. Clinicians, surgeons, trainees, researchers and others, are all coming together to transform IBD care," continued Polk. "We are looking forward to an even more dynamic meeting for year two."
