This eBook is edited by Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman and Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, published on April 5, 2019

The search for new ways to treat cardiovascular diseases involves research and development efforts for new drugs or to revisit current drugs and review data of clinical results after administration. Bentham Science Publishers’ latest volume of Frontiers in Cardiovascular Drug Discovery book series looks at both approaches, albeit with some interesting perspectives on the latter approach to treating cardiovascular disease. This is exemplified in the first chapter of the volume, which is a review of the pharmacodynamic data of aspirin; the reviewers attempt to ask the question of whether if increasing dose frequency is better than increasing the overall dosage. In the same vein, another review in this volume presents findings of therapy with evolocumab, the monoclonal antibody designed to inhibit the PCSK9 pathway to counter hyperlipidemia, with statins. Readers will also find information about research on stents after clopidogrel withdrawal, adenosine receptor drug targets and immunosuppressive drugs useful for heart transplant surgery.

Frontiers in Cardiovascular Drug Discovery is essential reading for healthcare administrators, clinicians and pharmacologists involved in cardiovascular medicine and research.
