DGIST announced that the DGIST-ETH Micro Robot Research Center (DEMRC) entered The 47th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva with 4 inventions and won 6 awards including 3 golds, 1 silver, Special Award of Geneva State Government, and Special Award from the Taiwan Invention Association.

Held in Geneva, Switzerland from Wednesday, April 10 through Sunday, April 14, ‘The 47th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva’ is the world’s largest international exhibition for inventions and new technologies. 45 countries including Switzerland and Germany entered with 800 inventions. Professor Hongsoo Choi, the Director of DEMRC submitted a surgical bed integrating magnetic control and video system, catheter radio robot, capsule-type micro robot, and cell stimulating system with his team in Robotics Engineering Department.

The ‘surgical bed integrating magnetic control and video system’ especially drew the attention of local media by receiving both the Gold Prize and the Special Award of the Geneva State Government. Professor Choi’s team enhanced the controllability of micro medical robot by installing a magnetic control system and devised live broadcasting of a micro robot’s surgery video through x-ray.

Professor Choi said “We are very happy to gain worldwide recognition on our team’s performance through this exhibition and hope that these award become an important starting point for technology transfer and commercialization in Korea and abroad.”
