Announcing the fourth edition of PCR Tokyo Valves

2019, the year of Mitral — Since the approval of MitraClip in April 2018 in Japan, the number of cases has registered a significant increase. It is therefore fundamental for the local percutaneous community to get on board with the techniques and innovations currently developing around this procedure. Hence, the Programme includes a special focus on edge-to-edge therapy with MitraClip, which is currently reaching its prime-time in the Asia Pacific region. The How should I treat and Learning sessions will offer ideal opportunities to apprehend MitraClip from A to Z, including potential complications, through a case-based approach.

TAVI for beginners and advanced — TAVI naturally continues to occupy an important place in the Course’s curriculum. As the Asian Pacific experience in TAVI reaches maturity, this year’s sessions are devised to explore the expansion of the treatment to more complex patients and anatomies. For those who are just entering the field, beginner sessions will bring relevant and easy-to-apply tips and tricks.

Imaging techniques, key element for optimal procedures — The Course is kicking off with an Imaging Day on Friday 15, 2:00 PM. Throughout the day, participants will be able to take part in case-based sessions exploring multi-modality imaging methods and striving to deliver key learnings on the use of such techniques in both aortic and mitral valve interventions.

A relevant Programme, made By and For the Japanese Heart Team — Interventional Cardiologists, Cardiac Surgeons, Imaging Specialists, Nurse and/or an Allied Professionals from the local percutaneous community will find relevant content within this year’s comprehensive curriculum. Indeed, 35 abstracts and 86 clinical cases were submitted by community members, a great number of which were selected to be part of the Course Programme. Some sessions will even be held in the Japanese language. Yet, the international scope which characterises PCR Courses remains present. Collaborations with the European interventional field will be supported on this occasion by LIVE demonstrations transmitted from the Institut Cardiovasculaire Paris Sud – Massy in France.
