Shared e-mopeds are rapidly gaining traction as a viable transport solution in urban settings, particularly for medium-distance commutes. In Japan, a groundbreaking study has shed light on the dual facets of efficiency and equity in transport systems that incorporate these electric vehicles. The findings indicate that shared e-mopeds considerably shrink travel time and distance when stacked against traditional public transit options. This is particularly pronounced in regions characterized by lower land prices, areas often deprived of robust bus and rail services.
