The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging recognized 13 new SNMMI Fellows on Monday, June 24, during the Monday plenary session at the society’s 2019 Annual Meeting, held June 22-25 in Anaheim, California. The SNMMI Fellowship was established in 2016 to recognize distinguished service to the society as well as exceptional achievement in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. It is one of the most prestigious formal recognitions available to long-time SNMMI members.

All past SNMMI presidents were granted Fellowship at the 2016 Annual Meeting. Now SNMMI’s 2018-19 president, Satoshi Minoshima, MD, PhD, joined their ranks. Also recognized were:

Salvador Borges-Neto, MD, Duke University Medical Center, Durham, North Carolina

Carolyn J. Anderson, PhD, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Mark Tulchinsky, MD, FACNM, CCD, Penn State Health, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania

Jack J. Slosky, PhD, MBA, FACNM, FASNC, currently JJS Consulting; retired from Lantheus Medical Imaging, Milton Mills, New Hampshire

Jason S. Lewis, PhD, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York, New York

Jay A. Harolds, MD, Advanced Radiology Services, PC, Grand Rapids, Michigan

Mark T. Madsen, PhD, University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa

Morton D. Blaufox, MD, PhD, Rye, New York

Simindokht Dadparvar, MD, FACNM, FACR, Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Umar Mahmood, MD, PhD, Massachusetts General Hospital, Charleston, Massachusetts

Weibo Cai, PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Madison, Wisconsin

Yasuhito Sasaki, MD, PhD, Shonan Kamakura General Hospital, Kamakura, Japan

Selection of SNMMI Fellows is based on documented excellence of volunteer service to the society and at least one of the additional three areas: excellence in scientific discovery and innovation, educational efforts in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, or clinical practice of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging. SNMMI Fellowship is recognized with the designation FSNMMI.

About the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging

The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) is an international scientific and medical organization dedicated to raising public awareness about nuclear medicine and molecular imaging, a vital element of today’s medical practice that adds an additional dimension to diagnosis, changing the way common and devastating diseases are understood and treated and helping provide patients with the best health care possible.

SNMMI’s more than 16,000 members set the standard for molecular imaging and nuclear medicine practice by creating guidelines, sharing information through journals and meetings and leading advocacy on key issues that affect molecular imaging and therapy research and practice.
