IOF Young Investigator Awards presented at Singapore meeting

Today, at a session held during the IOF Regionals 6th Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting in Singapore, five researchers from Australia, Hong Kong, India and Japan were awarded the prestigious IOF Young Investigator Research Awards. The award winning studies, submitted by investigators aged forty years or younger, were selected from 168 abstracts submitted to the Meeting. The Award comprises 1000 USD, a certificate, and the opportunity to present the research at a high profile oral communications session.

The winning researchers are:

    Abstract OC10 -Promoter Hypermethylation Mediated Suppression of Cyclin Dependent Kinase Inhibitors (CDKN2A and CDKN2B) in Sporadic Parathyroid Tumors.

Abstracts from the meeting will be published in Osteoporosis International, Volume 27, Suppl. 3, 2016.

IOF President John A. Kanis stated, "One of IOF's most important missions is to promote new research in the field. We hope that these awards will help encourage these young investigators – the region's scientific leaders of the future – to continue their important work in advancing knowledge of osteoporosis and related musculoskeletal disorders."

The IOF Regionals will be held at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre from November 4-6, 2016.

Organized by IOF in cooperation with the Endocrine and Metabolic Society of Singapore (EMSS) and the Osteoporosis Society Singapore (OSS), the 6th Asia-Pacific Osteoporosis Meeting is being held in Singapore from November 4-6, 2016 at the SUNTEC Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.
