Sophia Antipolis, 18 June 2019
The press programme for ESC Congress 2019 together with the World Congress of Cardiology is revealed today. Journalists are invited to attend late breaking science press conferences and two themed press conferences:
- Too young to die
- Your choices for heart health
Which health behaviours in childhood have the biggest impact on adult cardiovascular disease and premature death? How important are genetics? What causes sudden cardiac arrest in the young? Find out in the dedicated press conference Too young to die.
Discover how Your choices for heart health affect longevity and risk of disease. Including the decision to stop taking medication, to have a flu jab, or add yoga to an exercise routine. Which patients with heart disease should stop driving?
Plus, press releases on a wide range of other topics: the connection between malaria and heart disease, links between acute coronary syndrome and cancer, novel findings on heart failure and brain damage, and whether e-cigarettes are an effective tool for smoking cessation.
Professor Sarah Clarke, Chairperson of the ESC Media Committee, said: “We have an exciting press programme lined up, including pioneering research on the use of technology to enhance cardiovascular health. Stay tuned for the late breaking science press conferences for a first-hand report of primary results from clinical trials and registries.”
The world’s largest cardiovascular congress expects more than 32,000 healthcare professionals and 500 journalists from over 150 countries at the five-day event. More than 500 scientific sessions will explore over 400 topics in themed villages.
