Kazan Federal University and University of Nottingham are to jointly hold the workshop in Nottingham, United Kingdom

UK-Russia Genome Workshop 2019 is scheduled for 16th – 18th September, 2019. Kazan Federal University and University of Nottingham won a grant from the British Council and will disburse funding to participants, including competitive spots for 24 individuals, 12 from each of the two countries, to visit the workshop. The event is a part of Kazan University’s Competitiveness Program (Project 5-100).

The British Council is a British organisation specialising in international cultural and educational opportunities. It works in over 100 countries: promoting a wider knowledge of the United Kingdom and the English language; encouraging cultural, scientific, technological and educational co-operation with the United Kingdom.

The University of Nottingham is one the biggest universities in the United Kingdom, ranked 82nd in the world by QS, including 8th place in pharmacology, 38th in veterinarian science, and 77th in life sciences and medicine.

Co-organizer from Kazan Federal University Albert Rizvanov comments on the target audience, “By European standards, those are young researchers with PhD (Candidate of Science) degrees obtained during the last 10 years. Based on this open application process, we will select the best candidates to receive 770 GBP for the trip. Other participants are free to join if they are self-funded or funded by their institution.”

Confirmed contributors from Kazan University are Dr. Rizvanov (co-organizer), Vice-Rector for Biomedicine Andrey Kiyasov, and Head of KFU-RIKEN Extreme Biology Lab Oleg Gusev. Kazan University is allocated 5 additional spots for its representatives.
