Four of the "World's Most Influential Scientific Minds" are scientists from The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich, who have recently been recognized for the impact of their work.

Professor Jonathan Jones, Professor Sophien Kamoun, Professor Cyril Zipfel and Dr Joe Win have been classified among the Web of Science's "most highly-cited" researcher list for 2017 in the field of Animal & Plant Sciences.

Another familiar name on this year's list is Professor Nicholas Talbot, currently based at Exeter University, who will be joining The Sainsbury Laboratory as its new Executive Director in September 2018.

The principle of this list is to highlight quantifiable impact, as demonstrated by a high citation rate. Clarivate Analytics who publish the highly-cited list says, "These researchers have distinguished themselves by publishing a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% most-cited in their respective fields over a recent 11-year period. Such consistent production of highly cited reports indicates that the work of these researchers has been repeatedly judged by their peers to be of notable significance and utility."

Professor Cyril Zipfel, Head of The Sainsbury Laboratory said, "The Sainsbury Laboratory is home to some of the world's most talented scientists, as this list clearly shows. We're proud that we enable scientists to perform at such a high level, and encourage excellence in everything that we do."

This is the fourth consecutive year that TSL has had at least four researchers on this list. The Highly Cited Researchers list calculates the top one per cent of scientists from the number of citations they receive from fellow researchers.
