Jesse Little, associate professor and associate department head for graduate studies in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arizona, has been named a 2020 associate fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, or AIAA.
The designation recognizes scientists “who have accomplished or been in charge of important engineering or scientific work, or who have done original work of outstanding merit, or who have otherwise made outstanding contributions to the arts, sciences or technology of aeronautics or astronautics.” Little was inducted Jan. 6 at the AIAA SciTech Forum in Orlando, Florida.
“AIAA has been an integral part of my professional life since I was a student, and it is an honor to be recognized as an associate fellow,” Little said. “I am fortunate to have been surrounded by many excellent students, colleagues, mentors and friends throughout my career, and this recognition is due in no small part to their influence. I look forward to many more years of involvement with AIAA.”
Little has been a faculty member at the University of Arizona since 2010, where he leads the Turbulence and Flow Control Laboratory and conducts research on aerodynamics and propulsion in subsonic and supersonic flows.
Department alumnus Rene Woszidlo, who earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in aerospace engineering at the University of Arizona in 2007 and 2011, respectively, was also selected as an associate fellow. Woszidlo now works as a technical lead engineer for flow control technology at Boeing.
