LIDAR and other optical sensors in autonomous driving focus of keynote at OIDA Forum

Jin Shang, R&D CEO at GAC Silicon Valley, to discuss fundamental aspects of optical sensors in autonomy — usage, functionality, cost and reliability

WASHINGTON -Jin Shang, CEO of GAC’s R&D center in Silicon Valley, U.S.A., will share his views on LIDAR and other optical sensors in autonomous driving as keynote speaker at the OIDA Forum on Optics in Autonomy, 27 June 2019 in San Jose, Calif., U.S.A.

Shang will discuss usage and functionalities for optical sensors in Level 3 and Level 4 autonomy, as well as requirements for cost and reliability. The OIDA Forum is a business development event specifically bridging optics and autonomous vehicles. The forum will address emerging optical sensors, like LIDAR and other imaging subsystems, adaptive lighting, and enabling technologies that have the most promise. The program is geared for leaders of transport applications looking for new solutions.

The OIDA Forum is co-located with the Sensors Expo and Conference and the OSA Optical Sensors and Sensing Congress. The Forum will have five panel presentations in addition to the keynote presentation and networking reception: Investments And Market Perspectives, Optics And Imaging In Autonomy–Accelerating Breadth And Depth; The Vehicle As Data Center: Next-Generation Onboard Computing And Communications; Driving Down Costs: The Manufacturability Challenges For The Optical Supply Chain and The Evolution Of LIDAR In Transportation: Opportunities For Non-Auto Applications And Deployment Progress In Auto.
