UNIST has announced that Hyun-Jae Lee, a graduate student in the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST, has been selected as one of the 7 recipients of the ‘1st WONIK Award’ by the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK). The award presentation ceremony took place in the Westin Josun Hotel in Seoul on December 20, 2022.

The WONIK Award, which was originally instituted under the name of the Next-Generation Engineering Leader Award from 2016 to 2021, is given to discover creative and challenging engineering students, establish new awards for engineering technology talents, and encourage them to become active engineers in solving social problems. From this year, the name has been changed to WONIK Award and re-instituted under the sponsorship of Wonik Co., Ltd.

At the award presentation ceremony, which was held in conjunction with the 51st NAEK General Meeting, a total of seven students were recognized for the awards. Among them, Hyun-Jae Lee, a graduate student in the School of Energy and Chemical Engineering at UNIST, was selected as the winner of the Excellence Award in recognition of his research achievements through prominent competitors.
