UNIST has once again been internationally recognized for maintaining the highest standard of quality in its business education programs.
On February 26, UNIST proudly announced that the School of Business Administration, the Graduate School of Technology and Innovation Management, and the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Management have successfully renewed their accreditation in business education from the prestigious Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
This renewal of accreditation by AACSB underscores the exceptional quality of business programs at UNIST, with the university initially earning AACSB accreditation in 2018. UNIST holds the distinction of being the first accredited university in the southeastern region of Korea offering accredited business programs at all study levels—B.A., M.A., and Ph.D.
Established in 1916, AACSB International is the world’s largest business education network, fostering connections among students, academia, and businesses to advance business education globally. AACSB’s specialized accreditation for business and accounting programs at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels signifies a seal of quality education. The rigorous evaluation process considers 15 educational indicators, including university development strategy, faculty competency, curriculum, educational environment, and student excellence. It is noteworthy that less than 5% of business schools worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation, highlighting the elite status of this recognition.
UNIST’s application for the renewal of AACSB accreditation in September 2023 was met with approval in February of the following year. AACSB International commended UNIST as a prime example of convergence education between technology and management, emphasizing the excellence of the institution’s innovation and practical effectiveness in its education programs. The accreditation, subject to re-evaluation every five years, reaffirms UNIST’s commitment to maintaining global standards of excellence in business education.
“We are delighted to receive the renewal of accreditation from AACSB International,” expressed Young Rok Choi, Chair of Business Administration at UNIST. “This reaffirms UNIST’s place among the top-ranked business schools worldwide that have earned AACSB Accreditation.” He further stated “We are dedicated to offering our students enhanced opportunities, including overseas education, employment prospects, student exchanges with international certified universities, and various degree programs.”
President Yong Hoon Lee of UNIST emphasized the university’s dedication to global management education leadership, stating, “We are proud of UNIST’s continued commitment to providing outstanding management education programs that adhere to international education standards.” UNIST remains steadfast in its mission to deliver top-tier business education and uphold its position as a leader in the field.
