The Society for Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness, Inc. (SDMPH) will host its 4th Annual Meeting in Washington, DC on October 31, 2018 at the Kaiser Family Foundation, 1330 G Street, NW., Washington, DC, and at the American Public Health Association Headquarters, 800 I Street, NW., Washington, DC on November 1, 2018.
The meeting on October 31 will feature experts primarily focused on Citizen Preparedness for Nuclear/Radiation Events. Dr. Robert Kadlec, Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response (ASPR) at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is the keynote speaker on the National Biodefense Strategy.
Jim James, MD, Dr PH, executive director of the Society, said the event will allow attendees to hear the latest on the level of preparedness within the US and will also provide opportunities to interact and exchange ideas while earning CE credit. CE is available for October 31.
According to Dr. James "A primary focus of this meeting and the Society for Disaster Medicine and Public Health going forward is championing a Prepared Citizenry as the best single intervention to decrease morbidity and mortality across all types of disasters"

Participants can earn continuing education contact hour credits in Nursing (CNE), and Medicine (CME for physicians and non-physicians) during the Meeting. One continuing education credit is earned for every 60 minutes of educational content. The maximum is 5.0 credits.
Continuing Medical Education (CME) – The American Public Health Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to approve continuing medical education for physicians.
Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) – The APHA/PHN Section is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
