Oxford University Press (OUP), together with Zhejiang University Press (ZUP) in Hangzhou, China, has launched a new, peer reviewed open-access journal: Food Quality and Safety (FQS).

The editors-in-chief, Dr. Kunsong Chen (Zhejiang University) and Dr. Mondher Bouzayen (French National Institute for Agricultural Research) will ensure FQS offers an international and comprehensive overview of food production and nutrition, food processing technology, and food distribution and shelf life.

Kimi Zeng, senior consultant at OUP's Beijing office, added: "OUP aims to work with the highest quality China-based English journals, to help Chinese authors publish in international journals, and to disseminate the best scholarship to the widest possible audience. We are excited about this promising new journal, and OUP will provide a full publishing service to ensure a successful launch, including production, marketing, editorial and daily contact with the editors to develop the journal worldwide."

"With food quality and food safety being of paramount concern to consumers, the food producers need up-to-date and high-quality information to keep abreast of key issues in the area" states Kunsong Chen, one of the editors-in-chief. "The aim of the FQS is to provide a platform to deal with the quality and safety of foods for extensive study. I look forward to working with our editorial team, our reviewers and authors, and the Oxford University Press publication team to ensure the growth and success of FQS."

FQS will be published quarterly. FQS is initially waiving article processing charges and offers prompt peer review and rapid international dissemination. The journal is available here: https://academic.oup.com/fqs

Background Information

Zhejiang University Press

Zhejiang University Press, established in 1984, is affiliated with Zhejiang University, an institution founded in 1897 and located in the historic city of Hangzhou. Zhejiang University Press specializes in printed books and journals, as well as digital publications dealing with natural science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, social science, and the humanities. The institution publishes approximately 1000 new titles every year, most of which are academic works, trade books, children's literature, and text books.

Oxford University Press

Oxford University Press is a department of the University of Oxford. It furthers the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. OUP has been publishing journals in collaboration with Chinese partners since 2004. Over the past thirteen years OUP has extended its cooperation with Chinese partners to include journals in science, medicine, law and social science. Its partners are based all over China and all of them bring something new and valuable to OUP's publishing. Its partners are diverse in nature, but united by their commitment to ensuring the highest standards of publication – and that means not just the end product, but the process – efficient and reliable peer review, upholding publication ethics, and producing innovative, top quality articles. OUP's journal team in China works hard to promote these titles, and also to guarantee the best possible support for OUP's publishing partners.
