OUP offers free journals access through EAI in response to hurricanes, earthquake

New York, NY (September 22, 2017) – Oxford University Press (OUP) is partnering with the National Library of Medicine (NLM) as they launch their Emergency Access Initiative (EAI) to provide free access to biomedical research for healthcare professionals and aid workers responding to hurricanes Harvey, Irma, Maria, and the earthquake in Mexico.

As part of this initiative OUP is providing free access to its full biomedical portfolio of 118 journals, including titles like Clinical Infectious Diseases, International Health, and Pathogens and Disease which will be freely available for the next four weeks.

Alison Denby, Publishing Director at OUP, shared the following message, "The last several weeks of natural disasters in the Americas have left many of us shaken and wondering how we can help. OUP is pleased to be able to provide this measure of support to the people working on the ground in affected areas."

The Emergency Access Initiative (EAI) is a partnership of the NLM, the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, and the Professional/Scholarly Publishing Division of the Association of American Publishers and other publishers. EAI provides temporary free access to full text articles from major biomedicine titles to healthcare professionals, librarians, and the public affected by disasters. The EAI serves as a temporary collection replacement and/or supplement for libraries affected by disasters that need to continue to serve medical staff and affiliated users. It is also intended for medical personnel responding to the specified disaster. For further information please visit https://eai.nlm.nih.gov.
