The H2020-funded project ECOTIP participated in Greenland Science Week 2023 last week, with a presentation at the jointly-hosted Greenland Marine Research Seminar and a session at the Greenland Science Week Science Conference entitled “Understanding changes in East Greenland coastal fisheries with Local Ecological Knowledge”, and by disseminating recommendations for Greenlandic fisheries policy and decisionmakers at these events. You can enjoy more details, photos and videos from these events here. The recommendations are available in English, Danish and Kalaallisut, and are the result of the work of a team of researchers and local research assistants who conducted a review of ‘local ecological knowledge’ (LEK) literature available over the past ten years for Greenland, conducted interviews with local hunters and fishermen, as well as fisheries stakeholders in West, South and East Greenland.
