Goldschmidt2018, the world's major geochemistry congress, is due to take place in Boston, MA, USA, from August 12th-17th, 2018. More than 3000 items of new research are expected, with up to 3500 attendees. Journalists are welcome to attend.

Previous Goldschmidt conferences regularly present headline-making stories, which have been extensively reported by the international press (e.g. BBC, La Stampa, CBS, Der Spiegel, New York Times, AFP, etc.).

This year we anticipate more headline-making stories about the science behind geochemistry, and how this affects the real world. The 2018 conference will feature sessions on a variety of newsworthy topics, including:

  • Making of Planets (exoplanet exploration and impacts)
  • Geobiology of the Past (mass extinction, fossils, origin of life)
  • Magmas and Volcanoes
  • Environmental Contaminants

We will issue press releases nearer the time of the conference. In order to ensure that you receive advance press releases and practical info about the Goldschmidt conference (and about geochemistry in general) email us at: [email protected]

If you want to register for press attendance (note: Journal Editors are not eligible for press registration), send an email with:

  • your name and who you work for
  • your email and cellphone details
  • proof of your press credentials (e.g. a press card, or a letter of assignment)

If you are unsure about anything, contact the press officer, Tom Parkhill, at: [email protected]

We look forward to being in touch.
