With an expected attendance of 10,000 interventional cardiologists, scientists, nurses, allied professionals and industry, EuroPCR 2018 will be welcoming the world of minimally invasive endovascular medicine to the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, 22-25 May. In a tradition that spans several decades, this dynamic and constantly evolving Course brings together clinicians, innovators, researchers, industry and health professionals to share their experience for the present and their ideas for the future. Presentations and discussions will cover the latest developments, research and best practice in the treatment of coronary and valvular heart disease, peripheral interventions and stroke.
Marked by a commitment to education, EuroPCR 2018 ensures the highest academic and clinical standard in a Course created "By and For" the participants and is one of the approved continuing medical education (CME) meetings under the new MedTech Code of Ethical Business Practice governing industry/doctor relations permitting sponsorship of healthcare professionals by MedTech members.
With a renewed programme at the cutting edge of minimally invasive techniques in endovascular medicine, this year's Course will feature many "hands-on" sessions with valuable "take-home" practice-changing information.

Focus on drugs and devices synergy
New to EuroPCR in 2018, the focus on pharmacological care in the context of interventional medicine is critical for understanding and better use of the vast resources available today. There will be four case-based sessions led by leading specialists on such topics as DAPT, optimal antithrombotic cocktails after TAVI, switching antiplatelet agents and managing triple therapy. These sessions will conclude with a practical "PCR clinical algorithm", not a formal guideline, but rather a way of thinking and approaching these complex scenarios from initial selection of a drug to its interaction with the selected device to the specific clinical situation itself.
Late Breaking Trials – Critical issues in interventional cardiology
The latest data coming out of internationally recognised trials that are making a difference in current and future practice will be released during EuroPCR 2018.

- ORBITA: a physiology-stratified analysis of the impact of FFR and iFR on the efficacy of coronary angioplasty in stable coronary artery disease (presented in the main arena Tuesday 22 May at 12:20 by Dr R. Al-Lamee)
- FAME 2, DANAMI-3-PRIMULTI, and COMPARE-ACUTE: accumulating long-term data on the comparative value of physiological guidance for stent targeting will be discussed, with a focus on potential impact on cardiac death and myocardial infarction (presented in the main arena Tuesday 22 May at 13:05)
- SYNTAX III Revolution: non-invasive Heart Team assessment of multivessel coronary disease managed either by coronary CT angiography or by invasive angiography (presented in the main arena Tuesday 22 May at 13:30 by Prof. P.W. Serruys)

Simulations and "hands-on" training sessions are of critical value in sharing experience. EuroPCR 2018 will feature:

TEACH or Training and Education in Advanced Cardiovascular Haemodynamics are two sessions offering the fundamentals of cardiovascular physiology and haemodynamics in relation to mechanical circulatory support. Devices, drugs … patient selection, all will be touched on in these sessions (in collaboration with TEACH-CRF). - Workshops on bail-out techniques
A joint educational project between PCR and Terumo Learning EDGE™ offers participants a shared and collaborative learning experience involving device-related complications. Eight workshops will permit participants to understand, better manage and offer their patients the best outcome. - Management of complications live!
Improving teamwork, from communications to coordination of the treatment, these sessions will offer a simulation of what's needed to face emergency situations effectively – together.
PCR Peripheral for Beginners
Are you an interventional cardiologist interested in beginning your own peripheral treatment programme? Join the travelling PCR Peripheral Course, which has successfully taken place in different meetings throughout Europe as it joins with EuroPCR 2018 to offer its special blend of clinical experience and knowledge in sessions dedicated here to simple aorto-iliac and superficial femoral artery popliteal interventions.
PCR Clinical Research
Devoted to optimising clinical research by fully understanding "the fundamental link between clinical research and best clinical care, with the ultimate goal of addressing the needs of the patient". These sessions are aimed at physicians, research fellows, research nurses and coordinators, industry partners, CRO representatives and regulators – anyone who is committed to becoming "more proficient actors" either as individuals or in a team to improve their understanding of research from critical thinking, to participating in a study, to running a study themselves.
Education can also be enjoyable, and EuroPCR emphasises this with such sessions as "PCR's Got Talent" where the young interventionalists compete to have their scientific abstract chosen by participants as the "best in show", or "An image is worth a 1,000 words". A modern guessing game that underlines the complexity – and crucial importance – of interpreting images today.
