Endocrine Society Elects New Leadership for 2026-2027

The Endocrine Society, a leading authority in hormone research and clinical practice, has announced the appointment of Dr. Nanette Santoro as its President-Elect for the term 2026-2027. Dr. Santoro, who has dedicated over a decade to her role as E. Stewart Taylor Chair of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, will begin her leadership term in July 2025. She is recognized as an influential figure in the field, focusing her research primarily on menopause, both premature and age-appropriate.

Dr. Santoro’s extensive experience within the society includes holding the position of Vice President of Clinical Science, and she has made substantial contributions through authorship on key clinical practice guidelines aimed at improving women’s reproductive health. Her passion for mentorship was recognized in 2016 when she received the Endocrine Society’s Laureate Award for Outstanding Mentorship, underscoring her commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and physicians in endocrinology.

In addition to Dr. Santoro’s election, the Endocrine Society has named four influential figures to its Board of Directors, set to commence their tenure in July 2025. Each of these individuals brings a wealth of experience and dedication to advancing the field. Dr. Cherié Butts, from Biogen, combines her expertise in neuroendocrine regulation with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion in biomedical research. Her prior experience at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration adds a robust regulatory perspective to the board.

Representing the realm of diabetes and health disparities, Dr. Leonor Corsino from Duke University brings a long-standing commitment to addressing the unique health challenges faced by Hispanic and Latino populations. Her research endeavors align with the goals of the Endocrine Society to promote health equity in endocrine-related conditions. Corsino’s previous roles on various society committees highlight her active engagement in promoting inclusivity and comprehensive care practices.

Dr. Patricia Morris, from The Rockefeller University, is another prominent voice selected for the board. Her dual role as a scientist and health policy advisor enhances the society’s focus on integrating research with actionable health strategies. Morris is known for her pioneering work in RNA molecular biology, contributing her substantial insight into the intersection of biotechnology and endocrine health, critical in shaping future research directions.

Lastly, Dr. Heather Patisaul from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) brings her expertise in environmental health and toxicity studies related to endocrine-disrupting chemicals. The prominence of her research underscores the increasing recognition of environmental factors on hormone-related health issues. With numerous leadership roles within the society, Patisaul is well-placed to guide conversations around the implications of environmental health in endocrinology.

The newly elected board members signify a concerted effort by the Endocrine Society to ensure diverse representation and expertise in its leadership. This is especially essential as the society addresses pressing health concerns, including diabetes, obesity, hormone-related cancers, and infertility. The upcoming Board members will commence their three-year terms after the annual meeting, ENDO 2025, scheduled for July 12-15, 2025, in San Francisco, California.

The Endocrine Society, recognized as the oldest and largest organization dedicated to hormone research, boasts a membership exceeding 18,000 globally. This vibrant community includes not only scientists and physicians but also educators and students committed to advancing the field of endocrinology. The society’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary approaches ensures that it remains at the forefront of addressing hormonal health issues.

As the society prepares for transitions in leadership, its focus remains steadfast in navigating the evolving landscape of endocrine research and clinical practice. From diabetes management to advancing women’s health, the Endocrine Society’s initiatives will be instrumental in tackling the significant health challenges faced by communities worldwide. The newly elected leaders are expected to advocate for innovative research, engage in public discourse on health policy, and foster partnerships aimed at translating scientific advances into improved patient care.

The announcement not only heralds a new era of leadership within the Endocrine Society but stands as a testament to the organization’s ongoing commitment to excellence in endocrine science and clinical care. As health concerns continue to evolve globally, the impact of these leaders’ work will undoubtedly resonate across various communities. Their leadership and dedication will help elevate the society’s mission, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in the field of endocrinology.

Moving forward, the Endocrine Society’s collective endeavor to integrate research, clinical practice, and advocacy will foster innovative solutions to hormone-related health challenges. This strategic direction is anticipated to enhance the society’s influence and expand its role as a leader in promoting hormone health tailored for diverse population needs.

In conclusion, the Endocrine Society stands resolute in facing the dynamic challenges in health caused by hormonal issues. With the combination of experienced leadership and fresh perspectives, the society is positioned to make significant strides in addressing vital health concerns that intersect with hormones, ultimately transforming patient care and improving health outcomes across the globe.
