Bioanalysis publishes special issue on methods and techniques for…

Bioanalysis, a leading MEDLINE indexed journal for bioanalysts, has published a Special Focus Issue on Methods & Techniques for Metabolic Phenotyping. The issue contains a variety of content focusing on multi-analyte measurement of endogenous metabolites, covering technologies used for the analysis of complex biological samples. The journal is published by Future Science Group.

Ian Wilson (Imperial College, UK), Guest Editor of the Special Focus Issue commented, "…it is difficult to imagine a future for precision medicine that does not include metabolic phenotyping as a source of new biomarkers … the combination of high-throughput analytical methods for obtaining metabolic phenotypes ('metabotypes') and advanced statistical techniques has provided a range of new tools for the discovery of novel biomarkers, we just have to use them intelligently…"

The Special Focus issue contains a range of content including general reviews and research articles describing methods using both 'untargeted' metabotyping, specific targeted approaches, and potential new approaches.

"We are excited to be publishing this timely Special Focus Issue of Bioanalysis" said Sankeetha Nadarajah, Editor of the journal. "The issue aims to highlight current applications and advances in the field of metabolic phenotyping, while also providing an outlook on how the field is likely to evolve."
