Higher marketization reduces institutional transaction costs and incentivizes firms toward product differentiation and expanded market power, which in turn enhances their ability to mark up prices effectively. The study employs sophisticated metrics, including the provincial marketization index, to quantify these institutional variables, weaving together macroeconomic factors with firm-level digital adoption.
