Baltimore will host the ultimate sleep research event this June

DARIEN, IL – May 21, 2018 – Sleep clinicians and scientists from around the world will present new research and discuss the most recent developments in clinical sleep medicine and circadian science at SLEEP 2018, the 32nd annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies LLC (APSS), June 3-6, 2018, at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland.

The SLEEP 2018 scientific program begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, June 3. The general session includes abstract presentations, symposia, clinical workshops and discussion groups on topics ranging from circadian rhythms and sleep-disordered breathing to neurobiology and health care delivery. Clinical sleep specialists will discuss current practices in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders such as insomnia, narcolepsy and obstructive sleep apnea. New this year is a two-day Technologist Track with content focused on the needs of sleep technologists. Download the final program for complete details.

Highlights include:

  • The abstract supplement, comprising more than 1,000 research abstracts that will be presented, is available for download. Press releases highlighting some of the intriguing research at SLEEP 2018 will be distributed during the meeting, and interviews with study authors and expert spokespersons can be scheduled by request.   • Updates and discussion on social media: Follow @aasmorg and @ResearchSleep on Twitter for live updates, and use the official hashtag #SLEEP2018 to share your meeting-related content and see what attendees are saying.
  • On Sunday afternoon, June 3, Namni Goel, PhD, will chair the symposium, "Diverse Biomarkers and Therapeutic Targets for Sleep Research: Basic and Translational Approaches Across Species."
  • The SLEEP 2018 plenary session on Monday morning, June 4, will feature award presentations and a keynote address, "The Cross-Talk Between Sleep and Circadian Clocks: Mechanisms and Health Implications," presented by Eve Van Cauter, PhD, the Frederick H. Rawson Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Chicago.
  • On Monday morning, June 4, AASM Past President Dr. Ronald Chervin will chair the discussion group, "Models of Collaborative Care to Diagnose and Manage Obstructive Sleep Apnea."
  • On Tuesday morning, June 5, Dr. Allan Pack will present the Thomas Roth Lecture of Excellence, "Towards a Personalized Approach to Obstructive Sleep Apnea."
  • On Wednesday afternoon, June 6, David Dinges, PhD, will present the invited lecture, "The Dynamics of Sleep Need: What Do We Know? What Do We Need to Know?"
  • From Sunday, June 3, through Tuesday, June 5, the SLEEP 2018 poster presentations will be on display. Authors will be present to discuss their research during the official viewing hours.
  • The SLEEP 2018 exhibit hall will showcase the newest products and services available in the field of sleep medicine, from Monday, June 4, through Wednesday, June 6.
