The American Ornithological Society and Oxford University Press are pleased to announce their new partnership to publish The Auk: Ornithological Advances and The Condor: Ornithological Applications, the society's two peer-reviewed, top-ranked, Journal Citation Reports indexed journals. The Auk and The Condor will serve as OUP's flagship titles in ornithology.

The Auk: Ornithological Advances aims to advance fundamental scientific knowledge by increasing the basic knowledge of bird species, both living and extinct, and the knowledge of broad biological concepts through studies of bird species. The Auk has been published continuously since 1884 and was recently recognized as one of the 100 most influential journals of biology and medicine over the past 100 years. The journal holds an Impact Factor of 2.442, making it the third-ranked journal in the field of ornithology. The Auk holds the highest 5 Year Impact Factor of all ornithology journals, 2.438.

The Condor: Ornithological Applications publishes original research, syntheses, and assessments focusing on the application of scientific theory and methods to the conservation, management, and ecology of birds; and the application of ornithological knowledge to conservation and management policy and other issues of importance to society. The Condor has been published continuously since 1899. The journal holds an Impact Factor of 2.722, making it the top-ranked journal in the field of ornithology.

"AOS has entered this new partnership with Oxford University Press as part of our commitment to broaden the distribution of The Auk and The Condor globally, and to greatly increase our online access and usage," said Dr. Kathy Martin, president of the American Ornithological Society. "By launching our new publishing partnership with OUP, we can accomplish our goals of expanding access to our ground-breaking ornithological science and conservation to natural scientists and institutions all over the world."

Alison Denby, publishing director for Oxford Journals, said, "We are looking forward to working with the American Ornithological Society to publish these flagship journals in the field of ornithology. The Auk and The Condor will enrich OUP's portfolio of scientific journals, and we are excited to advance the fundamental science and applications of this research worldwide."

About Oxford University Press

Oxford University Press publishes over 400 academic and research journals covering a broad range of subject areas, two thirds of which are published in collaboration with learned societies and other international organisations. Oxford University Press has been publishing journals for more than a century and, as the world's largest university press, has more than 500 years of publishing expertise.

About the American Ornithological Society

The American Ornithological Society is an international society devoted to advancing the scientific understanding of birds, enriching ornithology as a profession, and promoting a rigorous scientific basis for the conservation of birds. As the largest ornithological member-based society in the world, the society produces scientific publications of the highest quality, serves ornithologists at every career stage, pursues a global perspective, and informs public policy on all issues important to ornithology and ornithological collections. The Society's Checklists serve as the accepted authority for scientific nomenclature and English names of birds in North, Middle, and South America. The society is also a partner in the online publication of The Birds of North America with the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology.
