The AICT-AsiaPCR initiative emerges at a time of exponential growth for the interventional cardiology panorama in the Asia-Pacific zone. The remarkable development of the field, which has been underway for over twenty years, has allowed the region's cardiovascular community to reveal clear signs of an outstanding skill level and firmly demonstrate a substantial commitment to offering its patients the best possible care.

In the spirit of perpetuating such progress, the upcoming educational meeting promises to offer a greater learning platform designed to efficiently address the particular educational needs of the region's practitioners. With this virtuous goal in mind, PCR is ready to invest its worldwide-recognised expertise in medical postgraduate education at the service of this enthusiastic and committed community longtime represented by the APSIC.

The newborn Course is being designed as a place for the many communities of the Asia-Pacific region to gather, exchange and learn within a truly independent environment. The Scientific Programme, to be conceived By and For the region's practitioners, will therefore follow a genuine educational vocation. The independence that will distinguish AICT-AsiaPCR in the world of medical education shall contribute to strengthen the Asia-Pacific interventional fraternity while contributing to elevate the standard of cardiovascular care that is offered to local patients.

"The philosophy jointly developed by the APSIC and PCR for this educational meeting lays on the foremost principle of bringing the best learning experience to our participants, regardless of societies or geographic boundaries" said TAN Huay Cheem, president of the APSIC.

In times of evolution for the interventional field at an international scale, AICT-AsiaPCR is being entirely conceived as an Asia-Pacific focused and dedicated Course. "The distinctive educational quality that characterises PCR, along with the expertise and fine reputation that the AICT conference has attained among local cardiovascular specialists, scientists and industry members, are the solid foundations of what promises to become a globally recognised pan-Asian Course" expressed W. Wijns, Chairman of PCR.

Further details on the joint event are yet to be announced. Meanwhile both PCR and the APSIC extend their invitation to practitioners interested in the Asia-Pacific interventional landscape to join them from 4 to 6 July 2019 in Singapore.

About PCR — The mission of PCR is to serve the needs of each individual patient by helping the cardiovascular community to share knowledge, experience and practice. Its activities cover a large spectrum, from the organisation of annual courses in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East to editing a scientific journal, publishing textbooks as well as providing training sessions and online courses on thematic subjects. Courses are based on themes like Coronary Interventions, Hypertension and Stroke, Peripheral Interventions, Valvular Disease and Heart Failure.

About AICT and APSIC — The Asian Interventional Cardiovascular Therapeutics (AICT) Congress is the representative annual interventional cardiology meeting of the Asia Pacific region.

About APSIC — The Asian-Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC) was officially formed during the third live demonstration course held in Singapore in July 1993, in the presence of 35 representatives from the region. Founded initially by 11 eminent cardiologists who were convinced that the growth in interventional cardiology in the 21st century would be in Asia, the group had the vision to provide a forum in which Asia-Pacific experts could share knowledge and expertise in the field of catheter-based therapies, and to develop a joint academic research and education programme. Membership of APSIC was to be conducted through their national cardiac societies. It would come under the umbrella of the Asian-Pacific Society of Cardiology (APSC) and the President would be a member of the APSC Council.
