A new topology-aware point-cloud generation framework combines PointAttention-based global tokenization, lightweight Transformer refinement, hierarchical GraphSAGE decoding, and a Graph-Induced Simplicial Layer to improve global structural coherence. While generative models for point clouds can reproduce local geometric details, they frequently struggle to maintain structural coherence around thin parts, boundaries, and sparsely sampled regions. The proposed architecture addresses these issues without requiring explicit topological supervision during training.
The system architecture processes unordered three-dimensional geometric data through coordinated encoding and decoding stages. Within the encoder, unordered point features are compressed into a compact, permutation-invariant global token. Following this compression and subsequent lightweight Transformer refinement, the decoder progressively upsamples point clouds through multi-scale graph aggregation using hierarchical GraphSAGE layers.
To guide coordinate refinement, the framework incorporates a Graph-Induced Simplicial Layer, designated as SCLayer, built upon a k-nearest-neighbor graph-induced one-dimensional simplicial structure. This layer couples graph-induced Laplacian diffusion with a low-frequency harmonic projection. The resulting coordinate diffusion process promotes structure-aware refinement, mitigating fragmented thin structures, boundary discontinuities, and uneven point distributions across the generated objects.
Evaluated on the ShapeNet benchmark, the proposed method achieved a coverage Chamfer distance of 53.15 percent on the Chair category and a minimum matching distance earth mover’s distance of 0.787 on the Airplane category, outperforming the strongest baseline models in those settings. Across sixteen ShapeNet categories, the model recorded a macro-averaged coverage Chamfer distance of 51.29 percent. Ablation studies demonstrated that SCLayer complements GraphSAGE decoding by enhancing structural continuity and distributional fidelity with explicitly measured computational overhead.
