Oncotarget, a distinguished multidisciplinary bio-medical journal, reassured readers this week that all of its scientific publications are and will continue to be available on PubMed, PubMed Central, ISI/Web of Science: Science Citation Index Expanded, Scopus, Biological Abstracts, BIOSIS Previews, and EMBASE. In cooperation with the National Library of Medicine, Oncotarget is achieving its goal to become the first research journal to submit an entire issue to PubMed just days after online publication.

Oncotarget works closely with all high profile scientific indexes and archives to make scientific results rapidly and widely available to medical field researchers, practitioners, and the general public. In an effort to accelerate indexing processes, it is publishing two issues a week. After assigning page and issue numbers they will appear in PubMed permanently. Volume 8 Issues 31-34 appeared on PubMed last week. Volume 8 Issues 35-36 are being processed by the National Library of Medicine this week.

Oncotarget is a twice-weekly, peer-reviewed, open access bio-medical journal covering research on all aspects of oncology and publishing sub-sections on topics beyond oncology such as Aging, Immunology and Microbiology, Autophagy, Pathology and Chromosomes and more. It has published seven volumes, 324 issues since 2010 and is now in its eighth volume. Oncotarget gives every paper published a direct object identifier (DOI) and applies the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to all published works.

"We believe that it is necessary to meet the challenges of the 21st century, which is why our mission endures to be a scholarly journal well known for rapid and wide scale dissemination of esteemed bio-medical research," said The Office of External & Legal Affairs of Oncotarget. "Ultimately, Oncotarget is the journal by scientists for scientists," and "will remain a resource to assist all researchers with their contribution to the progress of science as together we strive to see life without disease."
