About the Authors

Varun Mittal is a seasoned professional with expertise in digital business and financial services in Southeast Asia and global emerging markets. Currently, he serves as the Chief Innovation Officer at Singlife, Singapore. With a background at EY, helloPay, Samsung, and Singtel Group, Varun has played pivotal roles in fintech and mobile payment solutions. He’s an active start-up investor with over 50 investments and five successful exits through Boleh Capital. Varun also founded Fintech Nation, a platform supporting Singapore’s fintech ecosystem through books, mentorship, and an investment fund. His achievements include being recognised as one of the top ten people in Singapore Fintech by the Monetary Authority of Singapore in 2019 and 2021.

Dr. Lillian Koh is an accomplished educator and impact-driven professional in Singapore’s education sector, namely, the Ministry of Education and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. She was Chair of the Center for Financial Literacy at the NTU, pioneering successful financial education programmes for educational institutions. Her extensive experience includes appointments as Faculty Associate at Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Principal Investigator of research grants at NTU, and Director of Research at Curtin University, Singapore. With over 30 years of remarkable contributions, Dr. Koh served as Advisor to NTU’s Investment Interactive Club and Singapore Fintech Association’s talent programmes. She established the Fintech Academy, partnering with universities and the Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) to develop fintech talent programmes. Dr. Koh served as an International Consultant for the World Bank and consulted for major organizations, making substantial contributions to education and impact work. She co-authored : The Fintech Nation and the International Handbook of Financial Literacy.
