Expectation for transportation of biological medical products and vibration sensitive products

Tamagawa Seiki Co. Ltd., developed a non-shaking system for transportation sector with support of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in Adaptable and Seamless Technology transfer Program through target driven R&D (A-STEP)*.

In recent years, for a safety of delivering loads that are easily affected by vibration and shaking has been highly demanded in the transportation sector. Vibration isolators with springs and flexible support materials such as rubber have been used to protect loads. However, it was not enough to reduce vibration because vibration may be amplified due to resonance of flexible support materials. In addition, it has been unable to prevent the effects of vehicle inclination, and shaking loads by acceleration of speed-up, speed-down and turning. The Non-shaking System is developed to reduce both of vibration and shaking, and to achieve quantitative transportation quality by combining JAXA’s vibration isolation technology and Tamagawa Seiki’s stabilization and anti-rocking technology.

The Non-shaking System protects precision equipment, cultural properties and works of art, that are easily affected by vibration. It may be used for transportation of biological medical products that tend to produce protein flock by vibration. In addition to land transportation, , it is also expected to be installed on aircrafts that has strong vibration and shaking.

The application of this system is transportation of aircraft parts, space equipment parts, precision equipment, cultural properties, and works of art that are easily affected by vibration, as well as biopharmaceuticals, which are required to be transported in a stable and handled carefully to avoid vibration.

*A-STEP is a technology transfer support program whose aim is to put the research results by public research institutes into practical applications as important technology in the national economy, and thus to give some of their profit back to society.
