Amsterdam, April 7, 2021 – IOS Press, an international publisher providing content and services for scientific, technical, and medical (STM) communities, is proud to announce the launch of the new IOS Press Labs website. Labs is a virtual space where possibilities can be explored and experiences shared – from the latest technological advancements impacting knowledge dissemination and innovative content developments, to intelligent tools, participation in pioneering scholarly information industry initiatives, and provision of insights into trends in the publishing ecosystem.

“We have introduced this new blogging platform to help support our organizational vision to contribute in an innovative, meaningful way to a trustworthy scientific ecosystem and demonstrate a level of transparency into what, why, and how we work,” commented Carmel McNamara, PhD, Labs Senior Editor and Marketing & Communications Manager, IOS Press. “Our intention is to share our backstory and, in doing so, hopefully spark discussion among members of the communities with which we engage: authors, editorial board members, peer reviewers, readers, librarians, developers, collaborators, and the wider research community.”

Offering a platform that promotes collaboration and feedback, Labs content centers around the following categories: data management, innovation, open science, the research ecosystem, STM publishing, and technology. Topics of particular interest are artificial intelligence; case studies; “failing forward;” corporate/brand identity; data policies/data sharing; digital transformation; diversity and inclusion; editorial policies; knowledge graphs; linked data; machine learning; open access; open source; publication ethics; software development; and workflow tools for scholarly publishing.

Anyone interested in contributing a blog post to IOS Press Labs is invited to contact Carmel at [email protected]. Submission guidelines are posted at labs.iospress.com/about-labs#contribute.

This new website comes at a time of digital development for IOS Press and coincides with the company’s 34th anniversary. “The launch of IOS Press Labs marks the culmination of the first phase of our 2021 digital innovation strategy. The next phases include plans for transforming and integrating our web initiatives over multiple platforms,” added Stephanie Delbecque, Digital Product Manager, IOS Press. “In line with our corporate vision to open up knowledge and be more transparent about our R&D activities, Labs lets you take a look behind the scenes at IOS Press. In addition, it is intended to stimulate collaboration, strengthening existing partnerships and establishing new ones.”
